The Hogar is an Orphanage located in Guatemala run by Nuns in the Antiochan Orthodox Church. I have uploaded 2 videos to give readers an idea about who they are. The first video is part one of three. Below is a Parish Announcement from Fr Gregory. At this point getting monetary donations down there is the most practical assistance we can offer. Please note Fr needs the checks by the 27th! Thank you for your assistance.
“As some of you know, I will be traveling to the Hogar Rafael Ayau Orphanage in Guatemala at the end of the month (January 30th). It was from this orphanage that we adopted our three girls who have now been with us for over five years! The orphanage will be relocating from downtown in a dangerous part of Guatemala City to near the monastery…on a high cliff overlooking a beautiful lake in a tranquil rural setting. They are still building and can use some financial assistance. If you would like to help them, please simply send your donations to Holy Myrrhbearers Orthodox Church, PO Box 1025, Bonners Ferry ID 83805 and earmark it “Guatemala Trip”. I will make certain that Madre Ines receives these generous donations and well wishes while I visit (please send them by Sunday, January 27th). In addition, I am told that the orphanage needs toothpaste for the children and teens. Also, they would appreciate it if we could collect clothes for the teens to take along.
