Local Seattle Orthodox Scout Leader Receives Award

Fr Michael Johnson (previous recipient of the St Elias award) presents award to Mr John Prekeges (Thank you to Mr Prekeges for permission to use this photo)

Mr John Prekeges Scout Master of Troop 67 & Venture Crew 67 of Seattles Greek Orthodox Parish of the Assumption recently received the Prophet Elias Award from the Eastern Orthodox Committee on Scouting.  Both Troop and Crew 67 are active and have been featured in OrthodoxNorthwest in a past post.  Interestingly, they Celebrated the First known Divine Liturgy at Philmont Scout Camp by an Orthodox Troop in 2009.    A Hearty Congratulations and Χρόνια πολλά to Mr Prekeges for all his fine work with our youth.  Another article on the award ceremony can be found at the Hellenic Voice.
