Interestingly the Maronites are the only Eastern Christian Church in Communion with the Pope of Rome of which there is no Orthodox or NonChalcedonian counterpart. They have a long history and while they have been very influenced by Roman Theology and Liturgical traditions they are at core an Eastern Church with an Eastern Theological outlook. The Maronites like all Christians in the Middle East are under tremendous pressures from an Islamic majority and a political world that has little love for quaint but politically powerless Eastern Christians. Please Pray for and support the Christians in the Middle East.
