Rachmaninoff’s Divine Liturgy Performed by Cappella Romana In Seattle and Portland Jan 11-13th, 2013

Forefeast of the Nativity of Christ

Cappella Romana (FB) Following three sold-out performances last season of Rachmaninoff’s All-Night Vigil (“Vespers”), this year Cappella Romana presents Rachmaninoff’s earlier sacred masterpiece, the Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom (1910). Equal in its sonic monumentality to the Vigil, Rachmaninoff’s music for the Orthodox Eucharist includes opulent settings for double choir of the Lord’s Prayer and the Beatitudes. In Church Slavonic.
