Sunday Snapshot: Pan Orthodox Vespers at St Demetrios Sunday of Orthodoxy Seattle March 5, 2017


St. Gregory Palamas the Archbishop of Thessalonica (movable holiday on the 2nd Sunday of the Great Lent).

The Pan-Orthodox Vespers in Western Washington for the Sunday of Orthodoxy took place at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Seattle (Fb), sponsored by the Washington Orthodox Clergy Association. His Eminence Metropolitan Gerasimos of San Francisco(Greek Orthodox Metropolis) presided and offered the homily. Fr. Photios Dumont, pastor of St. Demetrios, was the main celebrant. A total of 17 priests and three deacons served, while another eight priests and two deacons prayerfully attended in the altar or congregation. John Michael Boyer, Protopsaltis (First Chanter) of the Metropolis, led a group of chanters in the hymns and responses of the service.
The over 150 faithful who attended, from parishes of various jurisdictions, enjoyed fellowship and a Lenten meal following the service hosted by the St. Demetrios Parish Council and Ladies Philoptochos Society.
