“Orthodox Coffins” By Local NW Craftsman 2017

A Joyous Lent to All!

For those preparing for a loved ones demise here are some resources to aid you in the Orthodox Christian approach to death and dying.  The door to meet the Risen Saviour.

St Nicholas Orthodox Church in Portland has two excellent resources that can be an aid for individuals and parishes.  Just click here for access to their PDF Handbook on Death and dying, and Prayers for the dying.  I believe the parish can also be a resource for parishes that look to move to a more Orthodox approach to dying.

Pastoral Care of the Sick and Dying” by Metropolitan Anthony of Sourozh found on Pravmir website.

“On the Significance of the Ritual of the Russian Orthodox Church Surrounding Death and Dying for the Grieving Process of the Bereaved” by the NW’s own, Fr Sergeii Sveshnikov
