The Conception by St. Anna of the Most Holy Theotokos. New Martyr Priest Sergius Mechev of Moscow (1941). Prophetess Anna (Hannah) (1100 B.C.), mother of the Prophet Samuel. A Joyous Advent to All!
A Christmas gift for all!
Just in time for this Christmas you can listen to services from one of the few remaining Christian communities in the Holy Land. Their devotion and robust singing in several languages and musical traditions is a real inspiration. I stumbled on this site and the Divine Liturgy on the Feast of St Nicholas while working on the St Nicholas post and looking for music to include in it. Please note the Church in the Holy Land is on the Traditional Orthodox Calendar and so their Christmas Liturgy will be Jan 6-7th on the modern calendar. But do not let that deter you from listening to our dear Brothers and Sisters. Also they broadcast live late around 11pm- 12mn our time. Which is great for night shifters and insomniacs! This information will be added to a new post with combined live streaming sites. While this is not a NW event the ability to listen when one cannot attend services justifies it on this site. Plus I believe it will be most appreciated by a number of readers.
Please consider subscribing and supporting their efforts!
“This is the Orthodox Church in Biet Jala Chanel. Beit Jala, Palestine, lies only two kilometers from the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, the birthplace of Jesus Christ. Its name comes from Aramaic, the language of Jesus Christ, and means “grass carpet”. The city is considered to be one of oldest in Palestine, and its’ first municipal council was established in 1912.
Join us an get access to live and recorded stream of Liturgies every Sunday and on feasts and special occasions.” From their description on Youtube.

Church of the Virgin, overlooking Bethlehem, is located in the center of Beit Jala and, with a capacity of up to 1.000 people, is one of the biggest churches in the area. From Beit Jala Orthodox Website. Click for more information.

Here is the Liturgy for St Nicholas Day 2017! May it be a Blessing to All! I was expecting Greek and Arabic but was surprised at the sound and words of another Chant.
Remember the Christians in the Middle East in your prayers!
