Thou wast Baptized in the Jordan. Glory to Thee O Lord. Glory to Thee!

Prefestal Troparion. Tone 4
The River Jordan was once turned back by the mantle of Elisha / when Elijah had been taken up, /
and the waters were divided hither and thither. /
And for him the watery path became dry, /
Verily as a type of baptism, /
Whereby we cross the flowing stream of life. //
Christ hath appeared in the Jordan to sanctify the waters.

Prefestal Kontakion – Tone 4
In the streams of the Jordan today /
the Lord cried to John: /
Be not afraid to baptize Me, /
for, I am come to save Adam, //
the first-fashioned man.

Troparion of Theophany Tone 1:
When Thou, wast baptized in the Jordan, O Lord, /
the worship of the Trinity was made manifest; /
for the voice of the Father bare witness to Thee, /
calling Thee His beloved Son. /
And the Spirit in the form of a dove /
confirmed the certainty of the word. /
O Christ our God, Who hast appeared //
and hast enlightened the world, glory be to Thee.

Kontakion of Theophany Tone 4:
Thou hast appeared today unto the whole world, /
and Thy light, O Lord, hath been signed upon us /
who with knowledge chant unto Thee: /
Thou hast come, Thou hast appeared, //
O Light Unapproachable!

Great are Thee, O Lord, and wonderful Thy works, and no word is adequate to sing the praise of Thy wonders

The waters beheld thee, O God, the waters beheld thee and feared.

Let the people, O God, confess to thee; let all the people give praise to thee; the earth hath yielded her fruit.

Today thou hast appeared to the universe, O Lord, and thy light hath been shed upon us, who praise thee with knowledge, saying, Thou hast come and appeared, O unapproachable Light.

That these waters may be sanctified by the power, and effectual operation, and descent of the Holy Spirit.

When Thou, O Lord, wast baptized in the Jordan, the worship of the Trinity wast made manifest;

for the voice of the Father bore witness to Thee, calling Thee His beloved Son.

And the Spirit in the form of a dove confirmed the truth of His word. O Christ our God, Who hath appeared and enlightened the world, glory to Thee.  Troparion of the Feast

Thou didst bow thy head to the Forerunner, thereby crushing the heads of the dragons.  And having stood in the streams, thou didst illuminate the whole creation.  Wherefore, let it glorify thee, O Saviour, thou Illumination of our souls.

The Lord is upon many waters.  I will love Thee O Lord my strength.

Thou didst appear in the world, O Creator of the world, to lighten them that sit in darkness.  Wherefore, O Lover of Mankind, glory to thee.

The kings of Tharsis and the Isles shall offer gifts; the kings of Arabia and Saba shall bring tribute; all kings shall pay homage; all nations shall serve Him.  (Offertory Psalm from the traditional Latin Mass translated.)

It is fitting indeed and just, right and helpful to salvation, for us always and everywhere to give thanks to You, O Holy Lord, Father Almighty, Everlasting God. Because by the mystery of the Word made flesh the new light of Your glory has shone upon the eyes of our mind; that while we acknowledge Him to be God seen by men, we may be drawn by Him to the love of things unseen. And therefore with Angels and Archangels, with Thrones and Dominations, and with the whole host of the heavenly army, we sing a hymn to Your glory, saying again and again; Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God of hosts. Heaven and earth are filled with Your glory. Hosanna in the highest, Blessed is He Who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.  (Preface of Epiphany from the Traditional Roman Rite Celebration of the Mass translated)

O God, who on this day, didst manifest Thine only-begotten Son to the Gentiles by the guidance of a star: graciously grant, that we, who know Thee now by faith, may be led on even to contemplate the beauty of Thy Majesty. Through the same Jesus Christ, . . . From the traditional Roman Catholic celebration of the Epiphany. Translated.
