Volunteer Work Week at St Peterś Monastery ! June 23-29, 2019

 St. Peter’s Monastery Harrison Montana presents:

Volunteer Work Week:

Adults and adults with children over 14 years old are welcome to work with our visiting monks for all or any part of this week. Meals and tools, except work gloves, will be provided, but those who plan to stay overnight should bring a sleeping bag and tent, if desired. All are welcome and encouraged to make a donation to the monastery to help cover the cost of meals and materials.

1 PM Break Camp (guests are welcome to camp out through
the weekend and attend Vespers and Divine Liturgy at
St. Anthony in Bozeman or Holy Trinity in Butte, Montana.

 

  1. PETER’S MONASTERY YOUTH CAMP 2019

 

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTIONS

 

  1. ICONOGRAPHY: This group will receive instruction from a practicing iconographer in the traditional techniques for writing icons whilst working collaboratively to write a large icon of ST. PETER & THE WAVES.

 

  1. HISTORY & MEANING OF ST. CHRYSOSTOM LITURGY: Our clergy will work with this group to enrich their worship experience by explaining and showing the many layers of meaning in the words and actions of the Liturgy.

 

  1. HYMNOGRAPHY: This group will work with an expert music director to study and learn the music they will sing in Saturday’s Liturgy at the Feast of Sts. Peter and Paul.

 

  1. DOOR RESTORATION: The Church of the Holy Trinity in Butte recently donated to the monastery a set of handsome doors in need of restoration.  This group will begin this restoration process.

 

  1. TREE PLANTING: Every year we try to increase the number of trees at St. Peter’s.  Our late spring this year will allow this group to participate in this process.
