Miracleworking and Myrrh-streaming Iveron  Icon of the Mother of God from Hawaii  to visit Northwest Churches!  ( This information is as complete as I currently have it.  This post may be updated as I learn of more : )

¨Dear Ones:

Christ is in our midst! Several weeks ago, I received the following message from Fr. Mark in Post Falls about the coming of the Hawaiian (Iveron) icon (https://www.orthodoxhawaii.org/icons). I have been waiting for the schedule but did not want to wait too long before informing everyone about this blessing. So here is the message:

“Greetings in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

I wanted to share some exciting news with you.  For over a year now, Khouria Malvi and I have been communicating with Fr. Nectarios, the guardian of the Wonderworking Myrrh-Streaming Iveron Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos.  Over this time, we have made requests for her visitation, but Father Nectarios assured us that it is she who determines the schedule.  With much prayer and due to Khouria Malvi’s diligence, glory to God, the Theotokos has heard our prayers, and Our Most Blessed Lady will be visiting our parish the weekend of August 31 to September 2nd!…”

As far as I know, she will arrive Saturday morning (August 31) and stop at Our Lady of Kazan Russian Orthodox Church in Spokane for an Akathist and Moleben for healing.
The Iveron Icon should arrive at St. John the Baptist Church in Post Falls at about 4:00pm. It sounds like there will be an Akathist before Vespers and then an anointing. She will be greeted upon Her arrival with flowers, banners, censers and clergy procession. Great Vespers at Holy Myrrhbearers is cancelled on Saturday, August 31st in order for as many of the faithful to visit and venerate the Holy Icon as possible. I hope to venerate as well even though I have a wedding at Holy Trinity Church in Spokane that afternoon/evening.
Our schedule at Holy Myrrhbearers for Sunday, September 1st remains as usual, but anyone wishing to go to St. John’s and celebrate the Liturgy in the presence of the Icon of the Theotokos is most welcome to do so. I am not certain if there is anything scheduled on Sunday afternoon, September 1st. The Icon departs for Hawaii on Monday morning, September 2nd.
OK, that is all that I know for now…stay tuned and check the websites of the various parishes as well.

And an Akathist to the Iveron Theotokos

Kontakion I

To the champion leader, our Mistress, the Theotokos, do we, thy ser-
vants, offer hymns of praise, as ones who have acquired a mighty shield,

an insuperable rampart and an ever-vigilant guardian through the arri-
val of thy precious image. As thou art possessed of invincible might, pro-
tect and defend us, O Mistress, from all enemies, visible and invisible, and

deliver us from all harm of body and soul, that we may cry out to thee:

Rejoice, O good gate-keeper, who openest the
portal of paradise unto the faithful!  (From Akathist to Iveron Icon)
